OUR HISTORY and MISSION...
The Northside Red Runners... were founded in 1971 by Coach Red Smith.
The 2008 track and field season will mark over 36 years of participation in the sports of Track & Field and Cross Country running. We pratice at Holy Innocents' Episcopal school at 805 Mt.Vernon Hwy. NW. in Atlanta Georgia.
Our running program provides a grass-roots progression through a series of competitions culminating in a State, Region or National championship.
Our team practices 4 days a week (Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday) at Holy Innocents Episcopal School (or other locations) with competitions weekly or bi-weekly.
Our PArk and Recreation program begins in the Spring season in February and culminates in May, with multiple competitive track and field meets including the Georgia Park and Recreation Championships held in Augusta, GA. May 2-3 2009.
The Summer season begins mid-May and progresses through the USA Track & Field State, Regional and National championships, culminating in late July.
The Fall Cross Country season begins mid-September and progresses through USATF State, Regional and National championships, culminating in December with the USATF National Cross Country Championships.
The Red Runners attract girls and boys from ten different counties surrounding Atlanta. The club brings together athletes of different ethnic and socio-economic means to interact and grow together in realizing common goals.
IT IS NOT A ONE SEASON RECREATIONAL PROGRAM. A commitment to the years of practice required to acquire an in-depth understanding of an event is expected of all athletes. Training together for 10 months out of the year keeps everyone in a family-like fellowship that generates many lifetime friendships.
Again, thank you for your interest in our organization. We hope this information will help you in deciding if you and your potential athlete would like to become a part of The Northside Red Runners.
